Why You Shouldn't Put off Your Annual AC Inspection

Important Boiler Installation Steps You Must Know

Boiler installation is one of the demanding home improvement projects you'll undertake. Investing in a new boiler is a welcome relief if you depend on it to heat water or your home.

You must engage a skilled and gas-certified plumber from the get-go. Whether you install a combi or an electric boiler, you must know the following boiler installation steps involved.

Initial Preparation

Boiler installation starts with a site visit. A gas safe plumber inspects your space and evaluates the installation design. They weigh your preferences to identify a suitable boiler setup. An experienced plumber carries out a comprehensive heating survey in your home.

To find the ideal boiler size, your plumber assesses your rooms, the number of people, bathrooms, and radiators installed. Also, the plumber highlights possible installation locations and their proximity to power sources. This depends on the fuel source you intend to use and whether additional pipes are required.

Prepare For Contingency

Your home will be without hot water and electricity on the installation day. As such, you must prepare ahead. It would help if you looked for alternative means of food preparation, showering, and other chores that require electricity.

In addition, you must unplug critical equipment and appliances. You'll protect any gadget that could suffer damage due to a sudden power outage.

If your space is limited, or you want to secure your yard, you must set up a working area for the installation crew. You can clear your driveway or cover the yard with sheets or protective drop cloth. The protective cloth secures the space between the entrance and the designated boiler room. Indeed, the boiler installation area determines the most appropriate length to set up for the crew.

Actual Installation

After selecting the ideal boiler size and model, your gas-certified installer takes over the boiler installation process. Ideally, same-day installation saves time and guarantees convenience.

The cost and time needed for the actual installation depend on the type of boiler and its size. If you're replacing a similar model, additional pipework isn't necessary.

Boiler technicians rely on pre-designed schematics to connect the boiler pump and pipes to the radiator, main supply, and outlets. If you choose a regular boiler, the plumber must connect the hot and cold storage tanks as well.

Testing and Wrapping Up

After the installation completes, your contractor must test run the entire setup. This ensures every connection, pipe, and valve is in its optimal condition. The installer checks for possible leaks and pressure range if it's a gas boiler.

If everything is working correctly, insist on thorough site clean-up and ask questions regarding warranty and future boiler operations.

About Me

Why You Shouldn't Put off Your Annual AC Inspection

I almost always have my air conditioner inspected every spring before I start using it in the summer. However, last year I decided to skip the inspection. Everything had been OK for the last couple of years, so I assumed that it would be fine this year as well. Why not save a few dollars and skip the annual check up, just this once? Of course, this was the year that my air conditioner decided to break down. It ran for a few days, but it never really seemed to get cool enough to bring the indoor temperature down. Then it started making a loud noise, right before shutting off completely. By that time, the AC repair company was swamped like it always is when the weather is warm, and I had to wait days for an appointment. Next year, I will definitely be getting that yearly inspection first.
