Why You Shouldn't Put off Your Annual AC Inspection

The Ultimate Heating Maintenance Guide to Keep Your Home Warm All Winter

As winter is arriving, you will start using your heating system. Before that happens, you'll need to perform general maintenance to avoid problems. Plus, you will need to continue with the maintenance throughout the winter months. If you use propane, then you'll need to get the tanks serviced and filled before cold weather. The following heating maintenance guide will help ensure your heating system is working efficiently throughout winter with no problems:

Clean and Change Filters, then Fill Up the Propane Tanks Before Winter

One of the most important steps in preparing your heater for the winter weather to come is cleaning it. You want to clean your furniture boiler and make sure it is working efficiently before you turn your heating on. In addition, you want to make sure that you change any filters to make sure they are clean and your heating system is working as it should. In addition, if you use a propane system, then you will want to do maintenance to your tanks and make sure you have fuel before you start using the heater.

Making Sure the Boiler and Furnace Burners Are Clean

Next, ensure that your furnaces and boilers are clean and free of debris. Cleaning your boiler or furnace will make sure that there are no problems with it during the winter months when you need your heating system.

Check the Vents or Radiators to Ensure They're Clean, Clear, and Ready

The vents and radiators of your heating system also need to be checked and clean before winter. First, ensure vents are clear and air can flow free from them. Then, check the filters and change them if you have not done this already. For radiators, you will want to make sure they are clean and bleed air out of the system by turning the heating on and loosening the bleeder valves on each.

Inspect and Service Your Heating System

Lastly, you should hire an HVAC service to inspect and service before the winter weather arrives. They will also be able to repair any problems they find to ensure your heating is working efficiently when you need it most.

This simple guide will help you with the heating maintenance that needs to be done throughout the winter months. If you need help with the maintenance of your propane tanks and to fill up in fuel before the cold winter months, contact propane services to ensure you are ready for the cold weather.

About Me

Why You Shouldn't Put off Your Annual AC Inspection

I almost always have my air conditioner inspected every spring before I start using it in the summer. However, last year I decided to skip the inspection. Everything had been OK for the last couple of years, so I assumed that it would be fine this year as well. Why not save a few dollars and skip the annual check up, just this once? Of course, this was the year that my air conditioner decided to break down. It ran for a few days, but it never really seemed to get cool enough to bring the indoor temperature down. Then it started making a loud noise, right before shutting off completely. By that time, the AC repair company was swamped like it always is when the weather is warm, and I had to wait days for an appointment. Next year, I will definitely be getting that yearly inspection first.
